Will this dumbphone work on my network?
Pick your country and network. We'll show which simple phones still make calls there now 3G and 2G are switching off, and how we know.
Sources on every pageEach result links to the network list, maker page or regulator it rests on.
"Unknown" means unknownIf we can't verify a pairing, we say so instead of guessing. 277 pairings are still unknown.

The short version
- France: 2G is being switched off right now: Orange (and Free, which uses Orange's 2G) from late September to the end of December 2026, SFR from 15 November 2026, Bouygues Telecom on 15 November in a few towns and everywhere from 1 to 15 December 2026.
- UK: Three has no 2G, so a phone must have 4G Calling (VoLTE) that works on Three. Check Three's own device list.
- Netherlands: KPN switches 2G off on 1 December 2027. VodafoneZiggo expects to switch 2G off in 2028 or 2029.
- Germany: 3G went in 2021. 2G stays until 2028: Telekom by 30 June 2028, Vodafone in September 2028, O2 in the second half of 2028. 1&1 uses Vodafone's 2G.
- Ireland: Vodafone switched 3G off in 2024 and Eir is switching it off now (1 October to 6 November 2026). All three networks keep 2G, and no 2G switch-off has been announced, so most phones can still call.
- Spain: Vodafone switched 3G off in 2024. Movistar and MasOrange are switching 3G off now (MasOrange by 31 December 2027). 2G stays for now: MasOrange plans to switch it off on 31 December 2030.
- Italy: TIM and Vodafone switched 3G off in 2021–2022 but keep 2G, with no switch-off date announced. WindTre still runs 3G on 900 MHz and is trialling blocking it. Iliad uses WindTre's 2G for calls when 4G Calling isn't available.
- Portugal: MEO, NOS and Vodafone have switched 3G off but kept 2G for calls, with no switch-off date announced.
- "Supports VoLTE" on a spec sheet isn't enough. Each network has to allow that phone. That's why we show sources.
France is switching 2G off right now, and eir in Ireland is closing 3G. Across all 28 networks today: 477 confirmed or likely working, 878 with caveats, 76 not working and 277 unknown pairings. How we check.
